If you can't pay to have your hair braided then learn to braid yourself. No one said it has to only be a woman's job. Plus, once you learn it then you can do those intricate designs people wear. You'd be surprised at how women can nicely braid their own hair. Look up some youtube videos on braiding techniques and start practicing.

You're at what many people call the ';akward'; stage where your hair is too long for a nice short style and too short for anything else. It happens to us all. You just have to let it grow a little longer. If you can't do braid outs then do twist out. Put your hair in several twists and when you take then down you'll have waves and you can finger style them. Bigger twists equals bigger waves. If your hair is naturally curly or coily then wear it that way. My hair is naturally curly so I wear my hair in a small curly fro, for now. If you can't get your curls/coils defined then don't comb your hair when it's dry (it makes it frizzy) and start using a cream moisturizer or curl activator to make your curls/coils pop. You might have to experiment with different products before you find the right ones. Keep your hair hydrated and seal that moisture with a natural oil. You can go to the local grocery store's cooking isle and buy some pure or extra virgin olive oil to seal in your moisture - it'll keep your hair hydrated for a longer time. Add moisture and then add the oil to seal it. Also, don't forget that water is considered a moisturizer, too. i have two options.

first is find a close girl friend, your mom, your sister, someone to braid your hair out.

or you can load it up with oil sheen and puff it up like a mini-fro,
